Events and Announcements
Welcome to a new year. Today marks the second year of the  hybred schedule.  We will be running an eight period day on Monday, Tuesday and Friday.  Wednesday will be the even periods (2,4,6,8)  and Thursday will be the odd periods (1,3,5,7)  During those two days class periods will be 81 minutes long.

We will also continue the  advisory period and the Dear (Drop Everything and Read program. These will be held on Wednesday and Thursday during the noon period.  After getting student and parent input we have altered the Senior adivisory content.  They will be working on material that will help them to transition to post high school plans.

The schedule evolved from the need to provide extended periods of instruction time for our teachers to use their new teaching methods.  This is being done to help raise our expectations in rigor and relevance.  The teachers will begin a new three year commitment to differentiation of instruction.  This is being done to help our teachers to be able to effectively reach out to students who span the spectrum of learning readiness.

Parent -Teacher conferences will be held on October 29th and 30th from 3-8.  Through our site visit our parents mentioned that they were not getting enough information with the style of conferences we were holding.  In an effort to give more information we will be changing the format.  This year we will be holding a cafeteria style conference with all teachers in a common place.  Parents will have the opportunity to visit with each of their child's teachers.  The teachers will have laptops in order to access student grades and will be able to print off a grade report for the parent.  It is our hope that this will give our parents the information they need to help us ensure success for their child.

"We went out and tried to be the best we could be. And because you asked that of yourselves today and everyday you choose to do that after today-for the rest of your lives- know this about yourself:  You are a champion and you have it in you to always be a champion."

Lou Holtz

"The greatest results in life are usually attained by simple means and the exercise of ordinary qualities.  These may for the most part be summed up in these two:  common sense and perseverence. "
